After Purina opened on 24th of April 2014 it's  Pop-up Cat Café in N.Y./Manhattan as the 1st. american Cat Café, the trend expanded through all America and beyond... 

 

We are happy that many of these projects follow the example of european cat cafés in matter of animal protection, with La Gatoteca in Madrid / Spain as pioneer in working with cats for adoption, offering cat asisted therapies and a broad range of parallell activities for cat lovers.

The 8 adoptable cats of the restaurant-café come from shelters. The establishment is divided into 2 zones: A bistro with a small menu, including vegan and gluten free food, and the cat zone for playing with and learning about felines. They are organizing educational events, conferences with vets, workshops for kids and therapies for elderly and disabled people.

The name is a tribute to Venosa, the 16 years old adopted cat of the owner, Summer Geraghty, artist and animal protection activist - and the bond they share.

First cananien vegan cat café, with environmental conscience, pretends to help the feline overpopulation in Montreal and be a fountain of education and fun for everyone. At the moment it's a temporal home for 4 cats from Montreal SPCA, which can be adopted. They serve teas, chacolates, smoothies, pastries, soups, quiches, wraps, salads and desserts.

We were unable to find information about how many cats and from where are living at the moment at the premise. In May 2016 Toronto Humane Society retrieved the cats, worried for their helath, because of claimed incorrect supply of food and water, and cancelled colaboration with the cat café.

Ann Dunn (director of the Cat Town rescue organisation) and Adam Myatt created, with the help of croudfounding, the first permanent cat café in the USA. A NGO, which's mayor objective are the adoption of the cats, rescued from the local pond. There are 6-10 felines at the café, which is devided in 2 zones: A café (indoors and outdoors) and a cat zone with handwasher to comply with the sanitary regulations of California. They offer coffee beverages, bread rolls and morsels from a local bakery.

As the word game reveals, not quite a Cat Café, but a Tea House with cats, which offers a selection of organic japanese teas and sandwiches, salads, patisserie and quiches.

The up to 12 cats of this new space are from 'Give Me shelter', and available for adoption. Kids under 9, only accompanied by adults.
